Tofino and Ucluelet, on the western shores of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, boast the perfect location for a rustic getaway. A series of windswept beaches and rain forest trails connect the two towns and offer a number of stops to wander and watch for wildlife. We visited in the fall before storm season but still witnessed some great waves at the beach. Ucluelet also has a catch-and-release aquarium where you can see some of the local aquatic life up close. Although you can find black bears with relative ease, either on trails or at the local fishery, please respect them and take your photos from a distance!
